Sunrise with Suzy

Image
Suzy and I went on an early morning walk to catch the sunrise on the mountain. A nice man was shooting photos at the overlook. Suzy, being Suzy, made friends with him.  Then she and I sat on the rock wall together. We didn't know her new friend took our picture. But he told us he had done so and then gave us his card so I could contact him. The photo captures the essence of the relationship Suzy and I share.

Suzy Makes Another new Friend

Image
Suzy and I like to take meandering, aimless walks, and just kind of let life happen as we go along. We always come upon something or someone interesting. I call Suzy "Miss Congeniality" because most every time we venture out, she makes a new friend. She simply can't walk past anyone without greeting them, and usually enjoys a warm reception because she makes people feel loved. Occasionally, her new friend is canine, but more often they are human. I am more of an introvert when it comes to meeting humans, but she is changing me.  The fellow in the picture is one of the friendliest folk we have encountered. He adores Suzy, and she adores him back. He has a wonderful smile. I am learning a lot from Suzy.

Suzy and her Friends

Suzy enjoyed meeting new friends at the greenway today. I captured it on Instagram, which I have just begun using. Here is the link to watch the video: fun  . (I hope this works). Her favorite new pal was Teddy, the Border Collie mix. She also loved Mia, the 8 year old Golden/Aussie mix, and Maggie, the 4 year old Golden Doodle. Mia is not pictured in the video, as she was busy chewing on a stick in the shade. But you will enjoy watching Suzy cavort with Teddy and Maggie. Dog joy is contagious.

Beachin' with Suzy

If you are willing to camp, you can score a wonderful, inexpensive beach vacay. With my senior pass I camped for 20$ a night at Fort Pickens Camp Ground near Pensacola down a long, narrow, lovely peninsula bordered to the south by the Gulf of Mexico and to the north by Pensacola Bay.  I did get lucky on finding a site for 2 nights without reserving in advance much further than I did. You usually have to reserve way ahead. (You can sometimes get a site for one night and then a different site for another single night.) Suzy (my Australian Shepherd) and I slept in my van. We kept cool because I have a jackery power source that runs a fan. The jackery also charges my phone. I used the campsite power to heat water for coffee and oatmeal. Yes I got a little tired of eating oatmeal and nuts and fruit and peanut butter and cheese and tuna fish, but I was trying to keep it simple. My special treat was a kale salad I brought from home and kept in the icebox with some yummy stout beer. Suzy tho
